“Does protective gear kill?” : Ukrainian envoy deplores Israeli refusal to provide military aid

Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, told the Kan public broadcaster that he understands Israel may not be able to supply arms to Ukraine due to its need to maintain working relations. with Russia. However, Korniychuk asks why Israel can’t at least send military protective equipment, which Ukraine currently needs far more than the humanitarian shipments Israel has agreed to send.

“Can you kill with personal protection?” asks Korniychuk. “It could save people’s lives. We are not talking about the military. They all need self-protection.

Other countries, such as Japan, have announced that they will send military vests and helmets to Ukraine, as Israel remains on the fence.

“Our government believes that as a partner and friend you can do more,” says Korniychuk.

He says the donations already made by Israeli civilians are appreciated, but from the perspective of those in Kyiv who do not see the limits of Israel’s ability to act closely, there is disappointment with Jerusalem.

The envoy acknowledges that Israeli efforts to mediate between the parties have yet to bear fruit.
