Golden Eagles get quality work in shoulder pads, rain Friday morning – Mississippi’s Best Community Newspaper

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss weathered the rain at the start of her fourth spring football training here on Friday morning and the Golden Eagles managed to get some quality work in shoulder pads and shorts on the field of play at MM Roberts Stadium.

Part of that quality work for the Golden Eagles was their first chance to strike in some live situations.

“Another great day for us,” second-year coach Will Hall said. “It was a bit foggy and rainy at first, but God cleared it up for us. We tackled for the first time with a lot of good tackles. We saw a lot of physicality and I can’t wait to get in there to see the tape because there were a lot of good plays on both sides (of the ball).

Hall went on to say that the offensive line has a better understanding of what is expected of them, while praising the receiving corps for continuing to make plays in practice as well as the quarterback play, especially from red-shirted rookie Ty Keyes.

Hall said the team will take some time to take care of their bodies before returning to the training grounds at the end of next week.

“We’ve knocked out four and we have 11 (practices) left,” Hall said. “We will take five days to get our bodies back to health and we will come back and start again.”

The Golden Eagles are not expected to return to the training grounds until Thursday morning, March 3.
