Medical scrub manufacturer faces delays in sending protective equipment to frontline workers

As the pandemic has increased the number of people shopping online, a medical supplies company is reporting significant delays in getting their uniforms to frontline workers.

Because the pandemic has increased the number of people shopping online, a medical scrub supplies company is reporting significant delays in getting their uniforms to frontline workers.

Instead of waiting a day or two, some people who buy scrubs wait up to three weeks for them to arrive.

“Between the explosion in online sales between the holiday season between COVID, I think it’s just a recipe for disaster,” said Steven Zeldes, CEO of AvaCare Medical and president of Collection of medical scrubs.

He said about 30% of their orders are experiencing significant delays.

“It was crazy, it was absolutely crazy,” Zeldes said. “The point is, there are healthcare workers waiting for their scrubs, they are waiting for the uniforms.”

Part of the reason is an increase in cleaning orders.

He said that because of the coronavirus, many healthcare workers who don’t usually wear a scrub have changed for health reasons.

This has caused orders to increase like never before.

Also, given the normal speed of shipping, he said many people expect packages to arrive in just a few days.

“I think this is just part of solving another dilemma that we face because of COVID and we will overcome it,” Zeldes said. “It’s no one’s fault. I see companies adapting to it and I think we’ll get through it and I think we’ll be stronger in the end.
