Russian President Vladimir Putin presented his Croatian counterpart Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic with a bouquet of flowers before their bilateral meeting in the Kremlin. She returned the favor by giving Putin a soccer jersey.
“It’s for today’s game“said Grabar-Kitarovic, handing Putin the red and white checkered jersey, with the name of the Russian president printed on the back.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the successful performance of the team at the World Cup. I’m sure we’ll see an interesting game today“Putin said in reference to the final between Croatia and France which will take place at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow.
Previously, Croatia’s first woman president confidently predicted at the NATO summit that her country would lift the World Cup trophy on Sunday.

Croatia, with a population of just 4.17 million, has become the smallest nation to play in the World Cup final since Uruguay, which won the tournament in 1950 when the country numbered around 2 , 4 million inhabitants.
