Notre Dame home football games to air on NBC’s Peacock
Notre Dame’s home football game on September 11 against Toledo will air exclusively on NBC’s Peacock streaming service, a first in the program’s history. Notre Dame’s other six home games will be broadcast on Peacock while also being shown on television.
For NBC, which has been broadcasting Notre Dame football since 1991, the new deal further strengthens Peacock as a platform for top-notch live sports. It already broadcasts men’s basketball games in the United States during the Olympics and will broadcast all NBC Sunday night football games this NFL season.
All Notre Dame 2021 home games will stream on Peacock Premium, which costs $ 4.99 per month. As linear television station NBC Sports Network prepares for closed, Peacock’s current sports program portfolio includes English Premier League games and events, the Premier Lacrosse League and the WWE network; it’s first MLB games also broadcast for free in June.
NBC and Peacock coverage of Notre Dame will feature a broadcast team consisting of Mike Tirico and retired NFL quarterback Drew Brees. Notre Dame also recently launched its own streaming app called Fighting Irish TV to broadcast highlights, features, press conferences, and select games from all of the school’s teams.
âFighting Irish TV and Peacock shows the evolution of media consumption by our fans and viewers,â Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement. “We want to provide a great experience not only for our fans who travel the world to cheer us on, but also for our supporters who are either cable subscribers or ‘cable cutters’, and these two streaming platforms do just that. . “
